About the Paisley Art Institute

The Paisley Art Institute was started by a group from the Paisley School of Art and Design in December 1876 and is based in Paisley Museums and Art Galleries. Over the years many well known artists have been members: Sir Muirhead Bone LID, Sir Stanley Cursitor, James Christie, Sir George Pirie, E.A. Hornel and Sir John Lavery RA RSA to name but a few. Current members include James D Robertson DLitt RSA RSW RG,William Birnie, J R Hargan DA PPAI PAI, Tom H Shanks RSW RGI PAI, John Kingsley DA PAI and Robert Kelsey DA PAI.

The Institute hosts the Aspect Prize Exhibition which is held annually at Paisley Museum and Art Galleries.
