She has exhibited since 1986 with a number of one person shows and exhibitions in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.  Her other awards include a Commendation in the Morrison Scott Portrait Award in 1998 and the Winner of the Aspect Prize in 2005.

Sue has been particularly inspired by the beautiful hebridean island Colonsay where the family has holidayed most summers, and which she remembers visiting as a child. Continuing to paint commissioned portraits, she has also developed her own figurative themes.

Following a long summer watching her young son swimming under water looking for newts in a local outdoor pool, she began to paint a series of figures under water.

This theme was recently continued when the family spent a couple of weeks in the south of France, resulting in the series of her daughter Gabriella in her red bikini.
